Description
Released in 2023 by the good folks at Ardbeg a single cask expression that was wholly matured for 8 years in a second fill Manzanilla butt.
Curiously dry aroma and almost musty on the nose, with a note of reminiscent of a damp warehouse floor. Water releases some distinctive oily and nutty aromas, the roasted Brazil nut, fragrant woodsmoke, and a very distinctive, noticeable herbal top note.
The taste is peppery and warming on the palate, with flavours of smoked cashew and pecan nuts, smoky toffee, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove and tar. A very long, bittersweet finish, with huge layers of salty, tarry peat smoke, aniseed, leather and bonfire embers.
