Description
Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 2003, 19 year old. The fourth release in this acclaimed series. Distilled 07/03/2003, and aged in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. Elegant with sweetness followed by waves of smoke.
Nose – Aromas of herbal pine and fennel rise up to flow gently on the breeze, followed by sharp, tangy wisps of citrusy lime sorbet and medicinal lozenge. A cascade of eucalyptus and saddle soap infiltrates the senses, before hazlenut, sweet vanilla and currants surge forth, leaving a distant hint of rich minted chocolate in their wake.
Palate – Intense notes of wood smoke and decadent dark chocolate crash over the palate, followed by a ripple of sweet lemon curd and peanut brittle. The allure of this rare dram continues as currents shift to reveal delicate hints of creamy raisin fudge and hazelnuts.
