Built in 1786 and another favorite of the Whiskymuose. Strathisla was converted into a flour mill in 1838 and then reverted back to a distillery. This changed hands a number of times through the years and today is a subsidiary of Seagrams of Canada. One tale to tell about Strathisla involves a cat from Louisiana called Dizzy who had climbed aboard ship with a cargo of bourbon barrels bound for the distillery. After four weeks at sea Dizzy turns up at Strathisla amongst the barrels looking a little worse for wear and is adopted by the distillery.A smooth and rich whisky.
